PRIME Minister David Cameron brings his Cabinet to Suffolk and Essex today, and he will receive a hard-hitting message from the EADT on behalf of all rail users: Give us the service we deserve.
The EADT and its three sister local daily newspapers in Suffolk and Norfolk, along with MPs and business leaders, are all demanding huge improvements to our main rail line to London.
The Cabinet is meeting at Ipswich today before its members fan out to visit sites throughout east Suffolk and north Essex.
Education Secretary Michael Gove is to visit some local schools while Transport Secretary Justine Greening will be seeing a major transport infrastructure site.
Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke and Home Secretary Theresa May are expected to visit centres involved with keeping people safe and ensuring that any punishment is effective.
When Mr Cameron arrives today as part of his Cabinet’s nationwide “roadshow” we will make sure he receives the rail service message loud and clear.
Terry Hunt, EADT editor, will be meeting Mr Cameron personally. He said: “We will tell the Prime Minister that we are sick and tired of our rail service to and from the capital being a ‘Cinderella line’ –all too often beset by delays and disruption.”
